Occupational Therapy
At Childs Play Early Intervention, our therapy programs aim to address various aspects of a child's development, including physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional skills.
Therapy uses evidence-based techniques and individual treatment formulated to the unique needs and strengths of each child.
Our Occupational Therapist works closely with other professionals, such as Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Key Workers and Educators, to ensure comprehensive care for the children we serve.
Parents and caregivers play an essential role in our program. Therefore, we strive to establish a strong partnership with families, providing them with education, resources, and support throughout their child's therapy journey.
NDIS - Early Childhood Early Intervention
(NDIS ECEI)
(Children 0-9yrs: NDIS only)
A family- centered approach working with young children who are NDIS ECEI participants. This means that we work in partnership with parents and other care-givers to develop goals, plans and strategies. We also work closely with other therapists and key workers who may be on your child's "team" to ensure that your child is receiving a coordinated and effective service.
Allied Health Assistant Services
Sessions with an AHA are a great option for families who would like to stretch their funding further.
Where possible, we may utilise the support of Allied Health Assistants (AHA).
Our OT will provide the AHA with a therapy plan to assist your child to achieve their goals.
The AHA receives regular supervision to ensure provision of the best possible service.
Occupational therapy
(Children 0-18yrs: NDIS or PRIVATE)
Our holistic approach to helping your child overcome challenges is a collaboration between the child, caregivers and social support networks.
Each child’s situation is unique, so the specific timeframe and frequency of OT intervention will vary based on needs and goals.
Some clients require a brief period of support to target a specific goal. Others require longer periods of occupational therapy due to complex needs or multiple goals.
Coaching sessions for both parents and other caregivers is frequently provided in addition to any face-to-face therapy with the child.
Support is typically provided within NSW school terms.
Assessment and Feedback Service
(Children 0-18yrs: NDIS and PRIVATE)
Assessments are available as a stand-alone service, otherwise are completed prior to all other recommended interventions as part of OT intervention.
Clients are given the option of verbal feedback (no report) or written report (additional fee) depending on needs and budget.
Additional targeted assessments may be necessary and would be discussed prior to implementation.
Individual Treatment Sessions,
What do they look like?
These last between 45 minutes to an hour and includes active therapy and parent feedback. Sessions involve use of sensory, gross and fine motor equipment to encourage a child to participate in challenging activities.
Treatment sessions are conducted within the clinic, dependent on need, sessions maybe conducted within preschool/school or home setting.
Throughout treatment your child’s needs and difficulties will be continuously assessed to evaluate progress.
Goals and progress are reviewed at the end of each therapy block. However, a review can be arranged at any appropriate or requested interval during therapy intervention.
